很多人英语听起来不礼貌，因为没有注意到cultural nuances/ˈnjuːɑːnsis/ 文化上的细微差别。
方法一： 加上please
I want more cakes. （×）
More cakes, please! （ ✓）
-----Do you need a bag?
-----Yes! （×）
-----Do you need a bag?
------Yes, please!（ ✓）
方法二：加上thank you
----Would you like some more cakes?
----No （×）
----Would you like some more cakes?
-----No thank you. （ ✓）
方法三：加上excuse me
Is this your seat? （×）
Excuse me, is this your seat? （ ✓）
Can you let me through? （×）
Excuse me, could you let me through? 对不起，能让我过去吗？（ ✓）
I don't think that's true. （×）
Excuse me, but I don't think that's true. 很抱歉，我认为这不是真的。 （ ✓）
方法四：不聊taboo禁忌话题（很私人的话题,比如涉及到个人形象）
This dress makes you look fat. 这衣服你穿着显胖。（×）
How old are you? （×）
Are you married yet? （×）
What's your salary? （×）
人们喜欢聊religion and politics 宗教和政治
方法五：多使用情态动词modal verbs
不要用command命令的语气，要suggest，这能缓和说话者的语气soften the speaker's tone， 听起来温和礼貌mild and polite
比如：I want 改成I would like
I would like a strawberry milkshake. 我想要一杯草莓奶昔。
We will 改成We could ,因为will有命令的含义
We could meet for a drink after work.我们可以在下班后见面喝一杯。
Tell me something about your hobby. （×）
I would like to know something about your hobby, please. （ ✓）
方法六：多用疑问句，而不是陈述句
Tell me something about your hobby.（×）
Could you tell me something about your hobby? （ ✓）
Will you tell me something about your hobby? （ ✓）
Do you mind tell me something about your hobby? （ ✓）
Would you mind tell me something about your hobby? （ ✓）
Tell me something about the job position.（×）
Do you know something about the job position? （ ✓）
Do you have any idea of the job position? （ ✓）
Would it be possible to tell me something about the job position? （ ✓）
Is there any chance to tell me something about the job position? （ ✓）
方法七:委婉一些be indirect
Go away! 走开! （×）
Could you give me a minute alone, please? （ ✓）
Can we talk a little later? （ ✓）
That's a bad idea. （×）
I have a few concerns about that.（ ✓）
I'm not sure that's a good idea.（ ✓）
You're wrong. （×）
I think you might be mistaken.（ ✓）
I'm not sure about that.（ ✓）

方法八：拒绝要礼貌，不能直接说no
比如：Could you help me to do it?

I would love to but I have other plans.
Unfortunately, I can't.
