1. Describe a public facility (e.g. a museum, a library) that has been renovated and improved.
You should say:
What the facility is
When it was renovated and improved
What has been renovated and improved
And explain how you feel about it
The public facility that I would like to describe is Central Park, located in the heart of my hometown. It is a sprawling(植物生长的) green space that has been a popular destination(目的地) for locals to relax, exercise, and enjoy nature. The park underwent(经历) a significant renovation and improvement project last year to enhance(加强) its overall appeal(吸引力) and functionality(功能/实用性).
The renovation of Central Park took place in the spring of 2020 and lasted for several months. During this time, various aspects(方面) of the park were upgraded to provide a better experience for visitors. One of the major improvements was the installation(安装) of new walking pathways(人行道) and cycling lanes(车道), making it easier for people to explore the park and stay active. Additionally, new seating areas, including benches(长椅) and picnic tables, were added throughout the park to provide more options for relaxation and socializing(社交). The playground area was also renovated with new equipment to cater(迎合) to children of all ages.
I’m extremely delighted(高兴的) about the transformation(变化) of Central Park. As someone who frequents(常常去) the park for walks and picnics, I have witnessed(见证) firsthand(0手的) how the renovation has breathed new life into the space(为这片空间注入新生命.) The improved facilities and amenities(便利设施) have made the park more inviting(吸引人的) and enjoyable for families and individuals alike. The addition of more greenery and landscaping has enhanced the natural beauty of the park, creating a peaceful and serene(宁静的) environment for visitors to unwind(放松) and connect with nature. Anyway, the renovation of Central Park has been a wonderful upgrade that has made it a cherished and vibrant(有活力的) public space for the community.
2. Describe a place you would like to go to relax
You should say:
Where it is
When you would like to go there
What you would do there
And explain why you would like to go to this place to relax
A place that I find to be especially relaxing is a national park, not far from Chongqing. It’s a stunning(极好的,令人惊叹的)area with wide open green spaces(开阔的绿地), granite boulders(花岗岩巨石) dotted around (散布)the place and a large lake in the slap bang in the centre(正中心).
I first went out there in the summer of 2020 when our city opened up from it’s first Covid-19 lockdown(禁闭,封锁). I was immediately struck by its beauty(被它的美丽所打动). For the previous four months, I had been holed up(躲)indoors because of the virus. It was such a relief to be in such an open space. It was the summer too, so many people were swimming in the lake and having picnics in the grass. It felt like total freedom when compared to the previous months indoors.
For the rest of the summer, my girlfriend and I headed out to this park fairly regularly. You see, we’re both very keen on rock climbing(热衷攀岩), so we took mats and climbing shoes and had a great time climbing on the granite boulders. While we were there, we also met up with(碰面,偶遇) other climbers who showed us the various climbing areas around the park. We all got on very well(相处融洽), which was nice as I hadn’t been living in Chongqing for long and hadn’t had a chance to make many friends- especially with it being lockdown and all.
It might sound odd to say(这么说可能很奇怪)that a place that I go to do a physically demanding sport(体力要求高的运动) is relaxing, but it really is. I guess it’s just relaxing in a different way: maybe more psychologically relaxing(心理上放松的)than physically relaxing. Every time my girlfriend and I headed back from being in the park, we would feel physically exhausted, but with an overwhelming sense of calm and tranquility(巨大的平静和安宁的感觉). I guess many people feel that sense of calm from working out. Anyway, it’s really fun place, so if you’re ever in China I suggest that you check it out(去转转,看一看).
