Have you ever imagined how the masons transported the massive stones of the Great Wall? With no advanced transport equipment, it seemed to be impossible, wasn’t it? But in Ming Dynasty, a group of masons did work a miracle.
你有没有想象过石匠们是如何搬运建设长城的巨石的？当时没有先进的运输设备，这一切看起来都是不可能的，不是吗？但在明朝，一群石匠却创造了奇迹。
There were nine passes on the Great Wall, and the last one, Jiayu Pass, stood on lofty mountains. At that time, the construction of Jiayu Pass required millions of stones of the same size. After the masons selected and chiselled the stones near the Black Mountain, they found that neither men nor carts could carry the heavy blocks down the mountain on condition that the stones kept their original sizes.
长城上有九道关隘，最后一道是嘉峪关，矗立在高山上。当时，修建嘉峪关需要数百万块同样大小的石头。石匠们在黑山附近挑选并凿好石头后，发现无论是用人力还是手推车，要想让石头保持原来的大小，都无法把沉重的石块搬下山来。
Winter was drawing near, and the masons were worrying about delaying the work, and gathering every day to discuss the solutions, but they remained puzzled.
冬天快到了，石匠们担心延误了工作，每天都聚在一起讨论解决问题的办法，但一直一筹莫展。
It was growing colder and colder. One day, a mason accidentally poured some water onto the path, but unexpectedly found the water quickly frozen. He stepped on the ice and almost slipped down. Thanks to this "mistake", he came up with a perfect solution--to build an “ice” road, a road with water sprinkled on it in extreme coldness, so that they could slide the stones to the pass when it froze. Unsurprisingly, this solution was approved by everyone and was quickly put into practice.
天气越来越冷了。一天，一个石匠不小心倒了些水在过道上，却意外地发现水很快就冻住了。
他踩在冰上，还差点滑倒。多亏了这个“意外”，他想出了一个完美的解决办法——修建一条“冰”路，一条把水洒在极度严寒环境中的路，这样他们就可以在道路结冰时让石头滑到嘉峪关口。不出所料，这个方案得到了大家的认可，并很快付诸实施。
It didn't take long for the ice road extending from the Black Mountain to Jiayu Pass to be built. On the ice road, every block of stone was transported out of the mountain nicely and easily. The masons eventually overcame the difficulty with their wisdom and diligence, putting a perfect full stop to the construction of the Great Wall.
没过多久，从黑山到嘉峪关的冰路就修好了。在结冰的路上，每一块石头都完好无损地被轻松地运出了山。最终，石匠们用他们的智慧和勤劳克服了困难，为长城的建设划上完美的句号。
