'm going to describe an English training school that I attended when I was 11 years old. I hadn't even started puberty, but I'd already begun to have romantic feelings towards girls. There was one girl in my class that I particularly liked and I wrote her many love letters. Unfortunately, my mom found out about it and sent me to this English school twice a week as a distraction. I wasn't distracted, but I indeed learned a bit of English.
What that school boasted was a host of teachers from America and Canada. In every class, we would interact with one of them, learning anything that the teacher felt like talking about. My favorite teacher was a 19-year-old, named Nate. What impressed me most about him was that he was determined to go into politics in the future and even run for president of the United States.
Anyway, back to what I learned ... um ... it was mainly spoken English that was taught there. For example, I remember one time when we practiced how to chat up girls or guys in a bar. That was "useful" for a kid like me hahaha.
Like I said earlier, my English did improve during that period of learning. But more importantly, it gave me an opportunity to directly speak with native English speakers, which not only increased my confidence in speaking the language, but also helped me become more outgoing and communicative.
