1. 原因类信号词
原因类信号词一般用于教授解释观点或现象的原因,有时会与结果信号词连用,也是托福听力细节题高频出题点。
比如:
l because (of);
l the reason (why);
l since;
l as/for;
例题:(TPO16 Conversation 2 Q3)
What will the student do this weekend?
A. Take a trip with his medieval history class
B. Practice speaking French
C. Attend an awards ceremony
D. Write a paper about Montreal
这道题询问学生周末干什么,即询问学生不能参加考试的原因,可通过原因类信号词the reason及结果类信号词so,锁定答案句“Well, the reason, the main reason I wanted to go, is that we’ll be rooming with French-speaking students there. You know, so we can get a chance to use our French to actually talk with real French speakers. ” 故正确答案为B。
2. 结果类信号词
结果类信号词一般用于总结或说明结果,也是托福听力细节题的出题点。
比如:

l so that;
l therefore;
l as a result;
l lead to;
l result in;

3. 比较类信号词
比较类信号词一般多用于教授对比或类比两个人或事物之间的异同,且经常会在此出现细节考点,也是考生们的易错点。
比如:

l same/similar to/ similarly;
l resemble/resemblance;
l analogy/analogous;
(2)对比词
l unlike;
l (not) as…as…;
l differ/different;
l compare to;
l distinction;
l instead;
l on the other hand;
l 比较级;
