After being sentenced and imprisoned for years, the newly-released may continue to violate the law and threaten public security. Apart from those having developed anti-social personalities, most of them commit further crimes out of several objective and ignored reasons and, if measures could be taken, they would remerge into the society more smoothly and thus crime rate reduce.
There are several obstacles against prisons’ rehabilitation. For one, there are not enough education to criminals on the degree of damage that their crime behavior has done to the victims and society even they have been punished from their freedom already. Another significant block comes from the harsh lives when they are set free, these new citizens are hardly equipped with any working skills to earn their livings, which is especially true those with long-term services in prison. To make matters worse, people usually discriminate them as potential criminals and these prejudice steadily keep them away from normal lives and stable jobs.
To prevent continuous crimes, governments should have prisoners recognize their faults by organizing lectures and seminars and making them watch movies and documentaries during imprisonment and ensure they are regretful for their mistakes. After that, in order to ensure their rehabilitation after serving their sentences, prisons should prepare them better by fostering their decent verbal and behavioral habits and cultivate some specialized working skills, which can be extremely useful for daily social lives and future jobs. Except the efforts on law-breakers, friendly policies and promotions among ordinary people are also essential as only when the social environment is ready to take in them again can offenders grasp the chance to merge back into the society.
To conclude, the internal awakening from the sin and the external welcoming attitudes combined are the key to the rehabilitation of criminals still with consciousness and in terms of natural villains, imprisonment is all the time the best approach in preventing crimes.
