1.Describe a beautiful city[new]
You should say:
Where the city is
How you knew about the city
What buildings the city has
And explain why you think this city is beautiful
I have been to several cities around the world, among of these, I’d like to talk about Barcelona, which is the second largest city of Spain. A world-renowned(享誉世界的) destination for Mediterranean scenery(地中海风貌) with a pleasant climate and a numerous historic sites. I went there twice during my university with my friends for the unique architecture precious deposits(宝藏). The beauty of the architecture design did leave me a strong impression.
The whole city includes 10 districts with a neat urban planning(城市规划), especially the expansion area in the north. If looking down from above(鸟瞰), you’d found the streets there have a neat checkered layout(整齐方格状布局), the intersection is diamond-shaped(钻石形), and many Gaudi buildings are gathered in the area. It’s a specific example for students majoring in urban planning and for who enjoy the beauty of architecture, here is definitely a shrine(圣地) to explore. To resist the rigid geometry(死板的几何) urban planning of the city, architect Antoni Gaudi designed Casa Mila, the Sagrada Familia church and Park Guell with as complicated and dynamic(繁复的动态的) curve walls and roofs as he could. Looking at these stunning masterpieces(令人惊叹的杰作) on the straight central street, I felt a sense of contradictory beauty(矛盾的美感), as well as the feeling of unreality(不真实感). It’s absolutely a city which worth to visit repeatedly.
Except from the buildings, foods and people there composed distinctive flavour of culture(组成了不同风味的文化), which is so different from where I grew up. However, I didn’t have the chance to immerse in it(沉浸进去) since the limited time of the journeys. Well, I would say just leave some expectations to the next visit(给下次拜访留些期待) in the future.
2. Describe a place in your country that you think is interesting(new)
You should say:
Where it is
How you knew it
What special features it has
And explain why you think it is interesting
I'd like to talk about the Great Wall of China, a place that I find incredibly fascinating(难以置信地迷人). The Great Wall is not only an iconic symbol of China but also a remarkable historical and architectural wonder. It stretches over 10,000 miles across northern China, making it one of the most extensive man-made structures on Earth. I believe it captures the essence of China's rich history, culture, and engineering prowess.
The Great Wall, originally constructed over 2,000 years ago, served various purposes, primarily as a defense system against invasions from northern tribes. The sheer scale of the wall, with its watchtowers(瞭望塔) and fortifications(防御塔), reflects the ingenuity and determination(聪明才智和决心) of the ancient Chinese people. This remarkable feat of human engineering has left a lasting impact on the world. The Badaling section, located near Beijing, is one of the most well-preserved and accessible areas, attracting millions of tourists every year. In contrast, the Jinshanling section offers a more remote and rugged adventure(崎岖的冒险), providing hikers with a genuine sense of exploration(一种真正意义上的探索).
The Great Wall's cultural significance extends beyond its architecture. It is a symbol of unity(团结), resilience(坚韧), and the spirit of the Chinese people. It serves as a reminder of (作为一个…..提醒)the nation's rich history and its capacity to overcome challenges. Many Chinese emperors, soldiers, and laborers contributed to its construction, making it a testament to the collective effort and dedication of the Chinese people.
In summary, the Great Wall of China is a truly captivating place that I find interesting. Its historical significance, architectural marvel (建筑奇迹), and cultural symbolism make it a must-visit destination for anyone interested in China's rich heritage. The Great Wall embodies the values of strength, unity, and perseverance, which continue to inspire people from around the world. I would highly recommend visiting this incredible monument to experience its beauty and significance firsthand.
