话题1:Describe a piece of technology you own that you feel is difficult to use

  You should say:

  When you got it

  What you got it for

  How often you use it

And explain how you feel about it

  Sample Answer

The piece of technology that I own and find difficult to use is my digital camera. While it is a convenient and useful device for capturing special moments, I often struggle with(疲于应对,艰难处理) its complex settings and technical features.

My digital camera has many features that are designed to enhance the quality of the photos, such as ISO, shutter speed(快门速度), aperture(光圈), white balance, and focus. However, the myriad of(大量的) options and settings can be overwhelming(令人不知所措的) for a novice(初学者,新手) photographer like myself. I often end up taking blurry or overexposed photos because I don't know how to adjust these settings properly.

To improve my skills with the camera, I have started reading photography guides and watching online tutorials that explain the different settings and techniques. I have also practiced taking photos in various lighting conditions and experimenting with different settings to see how they affect the outcome. Although this process has been challenging, I have noticed a significant improvement in the quality of my photos.

Overall, I appreciate the capabilities of my digital camera, but I wish it was designed to be more user-friendly(容易使用的), especially for those who are not professional photographers. Perhaps manufacturers could consider simplifying the interface(交互界面) or providing more intuitive guidance(易懂的指南) for users who are trying to learn how to use their cameras more effectively.

话题2:Describe a website you often visit

  You should say:

  How you found it

  What it is about

  How often you visit it

And explain why you often visit it

  Sample Answer

Well, the website I frequently visit is an American online video sharing website(视频分享网站), youtube. Also, it serves as(作为) a social media platform(社交媒体平台) as billions of users are watching and chatting on it non-stop globally.

After years of development, it has become a multi-billion-dollar business(数十亿美金的生意) in the world that affects the internet trend(互联网趋势), culture spreading as well as the power of public speaking(话语权).

In the past, it was just a really cool thing to do, youngsters watched the funny videos and learnt new skills on it. But now it has evolved even greater. Here I can watch online streams(直播), picking up some movies I missed out from the cinema. Or maybe I can earn a few bucks if I got lucky enough by simply making entertaining contents(娱乐内容).

As a passionate English learner I would say I use it pretty often. I may go on and check it out several times a day to explore. Other than that(除此以外), they have a crazy notification function where they have a small bell next to the subscribe button. With that being clicked, you will receive notice whenever that channel I subscribed updates a new video or start a new stream or anything. That will remind me to watch without exception(毫无例外).

As I mentioned before, I currently am and still will remain as(现在是以后也是) an English learner. And that means English-based platforms are always welcome for me. On top of that(在此之上), I definitely find the innovative(创新的) and an substantial amount of(大量的) content valuable and intriguing(引人入胜的).

话题3:Describe an advertisement you have seen but you did not like [new]

  You should say:

Where and when you first saw it

  What the advertisement was for

What you could see in the advertisement

And explain why you did not like the advertisement

  Sample Answer

I would like to talk about an advertisement I did not like, which is about a weight-loss drug.

It was the middle of the say when I was on break from work(工作休息) and checking my social media. A notification popped up and I clicked in. The advertisement was displayed and caught my attention(引起注意).

It depicted the drug as a magic solution for weight loss, promising the best result with the minimalist effort. And then there was this popular and good-looking celebrity wearing a sexy top adding credibility to(增加可信度) this product and making it seem more legitimate(显得更合理). In the end, the advertisement also acclaimed that the product was scientifically proven to help individuals lose weight without changing their lifestyles.

I don’t like the advertisement for three reasons. Firstly, I found the ad quite misleading and deceptive(相当有误导性和欺骗性), since no magic can guarantee a good result in weight-loss process without efforts. Besides, the ad is untrustworthy because not everyone can have the financial support and time to keep in a good shape(保持好身材) as the celerity does. Additionally, the ad is promoting an unhealthy view of weight-loss products, saying lifestyle change is unnecessary.

Overall, I believer everything comes at a price(凡事都有代价), the advertisement is totally manipulative and distortive(有操纵性和歪曲现实). As consumers, we need to be critical about ads we see in daily life and not be swayed by(被…左右) celebrities.

话题4:Describe an activity you enjoyed in your free time when you were young

  You should say:

  What it was

  Where you did it

  Who you did it with

And explain why you enjoyed it

  Sample Answer

When I was in middle school, one of my favorite activities in my spare time was going on excursions(远足) with my friends. We lived in a picturesque town surrounded by lush greenery, and our excursions allowed us to explore the natural beauty around us.

Our excursions often took place in the nearby forest, which served as our playground of adventure. We would gather at a designated meeting point, eager to embark on(着手,开始) our explorations. The forest was filled with winding trails(蜿蜒的小路), hidden clearings(隐藏的空地), and a variety of flora. It was like stepping into a magical realm.

I would go on these excursions with a close-knit(紧密的) group of friends. We shared a common love for nature and a thirst for discovery. We would trek through(徒步穿越) the forest, observing the diverse wildlife, collecting fascinating specimens, and documenting our findings in our nature journals.

What made these excursions so enjoyable was the sense of freedom and wonder they offered. We would lose ourselves in the beauty of nature, feeling a deep connection with the environment. The tranquillity(宁静的) of the forest provided a much-needed escape from(逃离) the stresses of school and everyday life.

Moreover, the excursions fostered a spirit of camaraderie(友情) among us. We would collaborate, share knowledge, and support each other during our expeditions. The shared experiences created lasting bonds and memories that we cherish to this day.

In conclusion, going on excursions in the nearby forest with my friends was an activity I truly cherished during my middle school years. The exploration, the connection with nature, and the bonds formed made it an unforgettable and enriching(充实的,丰富的) experience.
