Horse racing is a prevalent sport among many countries.Tips on which horse is likely to win are much sought after and circulate among punters(赌马者) .But the most trusted authorities are those from the inner circle of the horse， such as stable lads(马夫)and trainers.The notional(猜测的)“from the horse's mouth”indicates one step even better than the inner circle， that is， the horse itself.
赛马是许多国家非常流行的一项运动。在赛马过程中，赌马者热衷于讨论哪匹马最有可能获胜。但最权威信息往往来自于赛马核心圈子的人，比如马夫和驯马师。也有人猜测比他们还要可靠的消息来源应该是马的嘴“straight from the horse's mouth”，也就是马本身。
因此，后来人们就用‘straight from the horse's mouth'表示消息的权威和可靠。
