  1. Describe an occasion when you waited a long time for a nice thing(new)

  You should say:

  When it happened

  What the nice thing was

Why you waited for a long time

And explain how you felt about the experience

When it comes to the topic, the first one that pops into my mind was the time when I waited a long time for a concert that I was really looking forward to(期待). It happened last summer when one of my favorite bands announced(宣布) a concert in my city. I had been a fan of this band for many years and was really excited to finally have the chance to see them live(在现场).

The nice thing that I waited for was the concert tickets. As soon as they went on sale, I tried to purchase(购买) them online, but unfortunately, they sold out within minutes. I was really disappointed, but I didn't give up. I kept checking the ticket websites and even set up alerts for when new tickets became available. After weeks of waiting and searching, I finally managed to secure a ticket for the concert(设法获得了演唱会的门票).

I waited for a long time because I didn't want to miss the opportunity to see my favorite band perform live. I knew that it would be a memorable(难忘的)experience and I didn't want to regret not trying harder to get the tickets. Despite(尽管) the frustration (沮丧) and impatience of waiting, I felt determined坚定 and hopeful that I would eventually get the tickets.

When I finally got the tickets, I felt ecstatic(欣喜若狂) and relieved(释怀). The long wait made the experience even more special, and the concert turned out to be everything I had hoped for and even more. It was definitely worth the wait and I felt incredibly grateful for the opportunity to see the band live.

Overall, the experience taught me the value of patience and perseverance(坚持), and it was definitely a nice thing that I waited a long time for.

  2. Describe a time that something changed your life in good ways(new)

  You should say:

  When and where it happened

  What happened

  How you felt about it

And explain how it changed your life in good ways

Well, I can think of a moment that truly changed my life in a profoundly positive way. It happened a few years ago when I decided to volunteer at a local animal shelter in my hometown.

This transformative experience(改革性的经历) took place in the summer, at a small animal shelter located on the outskirts(市郊)of our town. What happened was that I started volunteering there as a way to give back to(回馈,回报) the community and spend my free time productively. Little did I know that (我一点也没想到) this decision would have such a profound impact on my life.

When I first walked into the shelter, I was greeted by a cacophony(刺耳的音调) of barks, meows, and other animal sounds. The sight of so many animals in need of care was overwhelming. I began by helping with the daily chores like cleaning cages, feeding, and walking the dogs. As time went on, I got more involved in the rehabilitation (康复) and adoption processes.

The initial feelings I had were a mixture of compassion(同情), sadness, and sometimes helplessness. Seeing abandoned and mistreated animals was heart-wrenching(令人心痛的), but as I spent more time with them, I felt a growing sense of purpose and fulfillment. The gratitude in the eyes of the animals when they received care and affection was incredibly rewarding.

This experience transformed my life in several positive ways. Firstly, it deepened my sense of empathy and compassion, not only towards animals but also towards people. I started appreciating the importance of giving back to the community and supporting those in need. Secondly, it changed my career path. Inspired by my volunteer work, I decided to pursue a career in animal welfare and advocacy(拥护,提倡), which I find incredibly fulfilling. Lastly, it introduced me to a wonderful community of fellow volunteers who share my passion for making a difference.

  3. Describe a party that you enjoyed(new)

  You should say:

When you went to the party

  Where the party was held

What kind of party it was

And explain why you enjoyed this party

Well, I attended a festive Christmas party in Frankfurt with my closest friends last December. The venue was a beautifully decorated event space, adorned(装饰) with twinkling lights, festive ornaments, and a towering(高大的) Christmas tree. The party exuded a warm and inviting atmosphere that immediately put everyone in a joyful mood.

The celebration featured a mix of(一系列的) activities, including a Secret Santa(圣诞传统活动 交换礼物) gift exchange, a delightful holiday feast with traditional seasonal dishes also a dance floor where guests could showcase(展示) their best moves to classic Christmas tunes. I have received a brand-new Christmas sweater from one of my friends.

What made this Christmas party particularly enjoyable was the attention to detail in creating a winter wonderland ambiance(气氛). The hosts had carefully prepared a playlist that set the perfect festive tone, and the decorations, from mistletoe(槲寄生) to snowflake-themed centerpieces, created a magical atmosphere.

The reason why I enjoyed this party so much is that the genuine spirit of giving and sharing during the holiday season was evident(明显的), making the party a memorable and heartwarming experience. The laughter, the exchange of heartfelt wishes, and the overall sense of togetherness made it an unforgettable memory to cherish.

  4. Describe a bad service you received in a restaurant/shop(new)

  You should say:

  When and where it happened

  What happened

  How it was solved

And explain how you felt about the experience

Actually, I do have several experiences of bad service when I eat out. But the most impressive one I still remember is from last year in the UK when I had dinner with my friends in a restaurant.

One Saturday, I made an appointment with (与…约定) my friends, going to eat out at a Thai restaurant where we were mistreated by (被…不公平对待) one waitress. As soon as we arrived, I was unsatisfied with (对…不满意) a waitress’s attitude. At first, she asked us to wait before taking our food order (下单), but without providing us with some drinks or even a menu. Then, she went away straightly when we were ready to order, which further fueled my unsatisfaction. However, what truly made me feel rage (愤怒的) was that she granted whatever was requested (有求必应) to satisfy some guests who apparently were not from Asia.

While finishing our meal, we complained about (投诉) her rude attitude and inappropriate behaviors to the manager, seeking a solution (寻求解决方法) to the poor service we experienced. The manager immediately asked her to apologize to us, feeling regret for such an unsatisfactory experience in his restaurant. Plus, he offered us some coupons (优惠券) as a gesture of apology (以表歉意).

In general, I felt rage due to such an unacceptable attitude and annoying behaviors. But their apologies were justifiable to me and my friends afterward, like, the waitress came to apologize and also, some coupons were offered to us in the end.

  5. Describe a time when you had a problem with using the computer(new)

  You should say:

  When it happened

  Where it happened

  What the problem was

And explain how you solved the problem at last

Well, I’d like to tell you about a terrible experience I had last Friday when my computer totally crashed(崩溃). But luckily, I got to survive that.

On a regular Tuesday evening, I was working in my little home office as usual, thinking my laptop was going to sail smoothly through(顺利通过) an online meeting. However, something unexpected happened. Right in the middle of my presentation, my cat jumped onto my table and knocked down(打翻) my mug. All of a sudden, water flooded(淹没) my keyboard, and my screen went blue. On seeing this, I got so anxious(焦虑的) and received a lot of messages from my worried colleagues since they were also wondering if it’s their connection or my laptop that had gone wrong.

I tried the usual, clicking everything in sight, but my computer wasn't having it. After that, I tried to restart(重启) my equipment, but things still hadn’t gotten any better while the rest of my team was still waiting for my weekly report. Luckily, it occurred to me that I had a copy of the powerpoint on my Baidu net disk. So, I downloaded it on my tablet(平板电脑) as soon as possible and finished my presentation though my voice was a bit shaky(颤抖). The other day, I brought my laptop to the nearest repair shop to see if anything could be done. Luckily, the staff managed to fix the problem without reinstalling the system(重装系统), for which I still feel so grateful(感激的). Ever since then, I never keep a glass anywhere near my table if I’m about to have an important meeting or doing important work just to avoid another mental breakdown(精神崩溃).

  6. Describe a difficult task that you completed at work/study that you felt proud

  of (new)

  You should say:

  What the task was

  How you completed it

  Why the task was difficult

Why you were proud of the completion of the task

The task I would like to talk about is a research project I undertook(承担) during my final semester at college. The project involved investigating(调查) the impact of renewable energy sources(可再生能源) on sustainable development(可持续发展) in our local community. It was challenging due to the complexity of the subject and the need for in-depth analysis(深度分析).

To complete the task, I started by conducting extensive(广泛的) literature reviews(进行广泛文献综述) and interviews with experts in the field. The complexity(错综复杂) arose from the diverse nature of renewable energy sources(可再生能源的多样性) and their effects on various aspects of sustainability. Despite the difficulties, I meticulously(谨慎地) gathered and analyzed data, ensuring a comprehensive understanding(全面理解) of the topic.

The difficulty of the task not only stemmed from its technical aspects but also from managing time effectively to meet deadlines. Juggling(兼顾) coursework and other responsibilities added an extra layer of challenge. However, I implemented a detailed schedule, prioritizing(优先排序) each aspect of the project and breaking it into manageable milestones(里程碑).

Upon completion, I felt a tremendous(极大的) sense of pride. The project not only deepened my knowledge of sustainable energy but also honed my research and time management skills. Presenting my findings to the faculty and peers, receiving positive feedback, and knowing that my work contributed to the academic discourse made the effort worthwhile. This experience not only boosted my confidence(提升了我的信心) but also instilled a lasting sense of accomplishment.(灌输了持久的成就感)

  7. Describe an exciting activity that you experienced with someone else [new]

  You should say:

  What the activity was

  Who you were with

  When and where it happened

  Why you went for it

And explain how you felt about it

One of the most exciting activities I have experienced with someone else was skydiving with my best friend. We had always talked about doing something adventurous together, and skydiving seemed like the perfect way to push our limits(突破极限) and create an unforgettable memory.

We went skydiving on a beautiful summer day at a popular skydiving center near our city. As we suited up and boarded the plane, the anticipation and excitement were palpable(期待与兴奋溢于言表). When it was finally our turn to jump, I felt a mix of nerves and exhilaration(紧张与兴奋交织在一起) as we leaped out of the plane and free fell through the sky.

The rush of wind and the breathtaking(美得惊人的) view as we descended was absolutely incredible. I remember feeling a surge of adrenaline(肾上腺素飙升) and pure joy as we floated back to the ground with our parachutes. It was an indescribable feeling of freedom and empowerment(那是一种无法描述的自由和权能), and sharing that experience with my best friend made it even more special.

Looking back, I am so grateful that we took the leap (literally) and went skydiving together. It not only strengthened our bond as friends(不只是增进了友谊), but it also gave us a shared memory(共同回忆) that we will cherish(珍惜) forever. The entire experience was a thrilling and unforgettable adventure that brought us closer together and left us with a sense of accomplishment(满足感) and euphoria(狂喜 喜悦). It was definitely one of the most exciting and exhilarating activities I have ever experienced with someone else.
